At 2 am
At 2 am
I see you
racing within me.
I wake up groggy
switch on the monitor
bring up your picture
and see that my sleep (usually dreamless
or visited by faithful nightmares)
hasn't played tricks with my vapid imagination.
So now I sit here and slake my thrist on this instead of wet salty tears that mark my pillows.
