Shadow Of The Wind
As the shadow of the wind
blurs together our curled shadows
against the far wall, I whisper
into your ear of pearl old metaphors:
I say, we fit like a lock and its key,
rain and earth, the moon and its eclipse,
a kitten and its curled sleep, the heart
and its always watchful beat.
Note: Written to the tune of Bassam Saba'S "Shadow Of The Wind", at the excellent concert of Middle Eastern Music given by Mr. Saba and his ensemble last evening, at the CUNY's Graduate Center in New York. While Mr. Saba is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist, his flue playing in particular was brilliant.
