Hari Mai To Laakh Yatan Kar Haari - Mira Bai

Hari, after making numerous attempts I stand here dejected. I have looked inside palaces. I have looked all over the mountains and woods. I have searched for you all over the world. I have looked into the alleys of Gokula, and those of Vridavan. I have interrogated the branches, the flowers, the leaves for your whereabouts.

They all reply, "He is not here, but he might be there". Hari, I stand here, dejected, after making numerous attempts.

Some ask me, "Is this Sri Ram or Gauri Ma you are seeking?" I answer, "No. He is the cowherd who grazes his cows in the forest. He is neither the husband of Uma nor is he the fearsome Narayan. He is the abductor of Mira's heart. His is dark blue hued, peacock crowned, and adorned by garlands. He takes so many forms that whatever name you use to summon him, he comes"

Mira says,"Now show some pity on me, O Lord, and please come quick Playing your melodious flute."

Translated from Braj Bhasa. There is nothing more soothing that doing these translations.
