Hari Tum Haro - Mira Bai

Hari, you are the master to the masses. Draupadi's rahki is tied to your wrist. For the devotees' sake, O formless one, you donned this leonine body, And slayed the fearsome Hiranya Kashypa on the treshold of dusk. Astride on the king of elephants, you have since left this world. Your slave Mira now, O Giridhar look, wanders this world in pain.

Translated, losely, from Braj Basaha. The orginal bhajan, which was a favouriate of M.K. Gandhi, goes:

hari tum harO jan ki pIr draupadIki lAj rAkhi tum baDhayO cIr bhakat kArana rUp narahari dharyO Ap sharIr hiraNya kashyapa mAr lInhO dharyO nAdina dhIr bUDhatE gaja rAja rAkhyO kiYO bAhar nIr dAsi mIrA lAl giradhar dukh jahAn tahAn pIr

You should listen to M.S Subbalakshmi verison of this bhajan, which was supposedly played on the radio when Gandhi was assasinated.

***Also I need assistance in deciphering the true meaning of the line, "bUDhatE gaja rAja rAkhyO kiYO bAhar nIr".
