Butterfly

[1] Greece - Zorba

As intermittent spring showers bend the grass, Light shifts over the fields beyond this fence. Lumine et Lumine, a phrase from Latin Mass, I think applies to you, for your carry light Inside your belly. Flowers receive it from you, Pushing their eager heads out of windows Anticipating your light descent and airy takeoff. Even I, a man of the drunk nights, stay awake During these hours of light, to watch this happen.

[2] Bombay – Office Worker

On the sea wall, watching the sun descend Into the west sea, in the middle of a crush Of bodies, exhaust fumes & hawkers cries, When I feel the first waft of evening breeze, I think of you, and what you had whispered, Leaning on my shoulder, only into my ear.

[3] Leh - Hermit

Many miles to go on this jagged path Dusted with snow. Lungs breathless Passing through these high passes. All I had loved left below. That was a life Of another man though. Only when I See you aloft, I think of such dreams.

[4] Bangkok – Temple Robber

Desire doesn’t inflame my senses When I see you, as it does when I see A piece of rare jade, a bloody ruby, Or the moon white belly of that dancer Who taught me new love games last night. I can’t steal you: you are worthless In this worthless paper I am greedy for. I curse the clever devil who created you!
